What is Blepharoplasty:
A Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid reshaping is an operation used to tighten the skin around your eyes and eyelids.

When we get older, the skin of our eyelids starts to sag as it loses elasticity and gravity pulls down on the skin. Without the elastic, the skin can't bounce back to it's original position and therefore starts to sag.
Blepharoplasty recovery:
What happens during a Blepharoplasty:
During a Blepharoplasty, a local anaesthetic is administered to the area to totally numb you for the procedure.

Our consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Ian Smith will make an incision into the skin of your upper eyelid and remove any excess skin. The skin will be pulled back to its new natural position and fine stitches will be put in so that the area can heal with minimal scarring.
Recovery from Blepharoplasty:
As this procedure is performed under local anaesthetic at Skinfinity, you will be able to go home the very same day to recover from the procedure in the comfort of your own home.

It is normal to experience some swelling and bruising post procedure, and we may recommend some localised icing or similar to control this.

3-5 days post procedure, we will remove your stitches and will offer ongoing follow up appointments as required.
Alternatives to Blepharoplasty:
There are a number of alternatives to a surgical Blepharoplasty, including non-surgical Blepharoplasty but in a number of cases, surgery is the only option. Our expert team will advise you of which treatment is best suited to you at the time of your consultation.
